The Avaratec AHI boasts of having a keyboard which you can slide open contrary to its predecessors. Though it has a smaller screen, 5 inches to be exact and I’m not sure if this tickles my fancy. I would personally get the 7 inch screen.
But wait! Did I read this right, but it runs on a Windows XP OS instead of the expected Tablet OS. What would be the advantage/s? Just imagine getting your usual desktop business tools and software into that thing. I would assume it will be an easier integration.
Let’s move on to Intel’s UMPC with the stylish swivel and keyboard. The video courtesy of the UMPC Community website made me drool. Not only has it have the capabilities of any ultra mobile PC, I would think this is one that will catch the female market. I for one use an O2 XDAIIs and specifically bought it because of the sliding “QWERTY” keyboard, despite of my love for touch screens. It just looks like an oversized PDA phone. An actual demonstration of the gadget is available at You Tube.
I’m torn between the two because I would rather have a 7” screen and the style also matters to me but the fact that the Avaratec runs on Windows XP makes it a challenge. I just wonder if this design will be really out in the market (crossing my fingers).
Which one would you pick?
