It was about a month ago that I heard about the Microsoft Origami which happens to be the introduction of Ultra Mobile PCs. There are models that are starting to be introduced into the market, having Samsung Q1 and the Asus R2H Origami UMPC being the first. Now, we have other companies getting into the bandwagon.
I have several links for your reading and viewing pleasure to know more about these gadgets. The ads have convinced me to get one for myself, sooner or later.
A good site to get updates on the several UMPCs out and to be sold in the market.
The official UMPC community site. It has a page that shows the first 3 products you can check out. If you want to have a snapshot of what a UMPC can do you for, they have a video that encompasses its capabilities.
Gizmodo has submitted a few videos that were demonstrated during the CeBIT 2006 conference. It was interesting to note that the person didn't exactly do a good job showing off the Asus R2H. I was interested in knowing more about the "on screen dial pad / keys" that helped a user to type using their thumbs. I almost thought it wasn't even there but I found really good pictures and an article on the online version of The Seattle Times.
We expect more updates, reviews and will get some tips on how to work UMPCs. When it becomes available here, I’m sure to grab one and share some experiences for you all.
