A headset is indispensable if you use or own a computer, most especially that VOIP is now widely used. It allows me to use the Internet to communicate with clients and colleagues. But not all headsets are created equal.
A few years ago, computer headsets came with earphones and a built-in microphone. Now, headsets are coming out with a built-in digital signal processor. This reduces the demand on your computer’s processor by integrating a chip for this purpose. The result is a very clear audio signal when you use VOIP by relying on the headset’s own processor.
But VOIP is not the only technology you can take advantage of when using this headset. If you utilize speech recognition software, you can’t use any regular computer headset. I tried and took it for a test drive but it just didn’t work. I purchased the Plantronics DSP 400 Headset and we’re happy to report that the speech recognition software embedded in Microsoft Office is working just fine.
